When God created Mothers ...

When the Good Lord was creating mothers, He was into His sixth day of "overtime" when the angel appeared and said. "You're doing a lot of fiddling around on this one."

And God said, "Have you read the specs on this order?" She has to be completely washable, but not plastic. Have 180 moveable parts...all replaceable. Run on black coffee and leftovers. Have a lap that disappears when she stands up. A kiss that can cure anything from a broken leg to a disappointed love affair. And six pairs of hands."

The angel shook her head slowly and said. "Six pairs of hands.... no way."

"It's not the hands that are causing me problems," God remarked, "it's the three pairs of eyes that mothers have to have."

That's on the standard model?" asked the angel. God nodded.

"One pair that sees through closed doors when she asks, 'What are you kids doing in there?' when she already knows. Another here in the back of her head that sees what she shouldn't but what she has to know, and of course the ones here in front that can look at a child when he goofs up and say. 'I understand and I love you' without so much as uttering a word."

God," said the angel touching his sleeve gently, "Get some rest tomorrow...."

I can't," said God, "I'm so close to creating something so close to myself. Already I have one who heals herself when she is sick...can feed a family of six on one pound of hamburger...and can get a nine year old to stand under a shower."

The angel circled the model of a mother very slowly. "It's too soft," she sighed.

But tough!" said God excitedly. "You can imagine what this mother can do or endure."

Can it think?"

Not only can it think, but it can reason and compromise," said the Creator.

Finally, the angel bent over and ran her finger across the cheek.

There's a leak," she pronounced. "I told You that You were trying to put too much into this model."

It's not a leak," said the Lord, "It's a tear."

What's it for?"

It's for joy, sadness, disappointment, pain, loneliness, and pride."

You are a genius, " said the angel.

Somberly, God said, "I didn't put it there.”

Many of you must have read this before...
...well the more I read this...
the more love and respect I have for my mom !

Years come and go...
everything changes but
...soft at heart and with a spine of steel...
a mother remains the same...
always :)

My mom made these for me...

and these...

 ...warm and cozy...
aren't they ?
I just wonder sometimes
in how many different ways
can we,mothers, show our love :)

I am proud of my mom and every mom
...and I know you too have the same kind of feeling !!

With all the gratitude in my heart...
its time to say bye bye to 2012
and welcome 2013...
...with a strong hope in my eyes
 that
it will bring joy to every little heart :)

Sharing my JOY !

Shared joy is double joy :)

So here I am sharing
my JOY post with all of you...
I created this JOY zentangle especially for this time
...the Christmas time...

As you all know, by now...that
I just love festivities and cheer...
 and all the traditions
and stories attached with these festivals...

they just bring that twinkle in my eyes
and sparkle on my lips...
and I indulge myself even more
 in the celebration of life...

“When you do things from your soul, you feel a river moving in you, a joy.”

― Rumi

and of course I do paint
with all my heart and soul ...
and so ....I derive
 JOY instead of PLEASURE
with each of my stroke or a tiny little tangle !!

My friend Srishti of Prolific cooking
also shared her joy with this delicious and healthy whole wheat choco orange muffin recipe...
and since healthy cooking is my passion too...I had to try this one :)

Believe me they actually are divine :)

Sharing my JOY ...with PPF

and wishing all of you a very MERRY CHRISTMAS !!!

Dancing to the tune of colors !!

Life is all about using the whole box of crayons...
and this is what I have been doing these days:)

Using the whole box !
Yes, the brighter colors ...a little more ...
for they mingle with the ones that are not so bright
and the outcome...
 is a surprisingly happy,cheerful...
 and crazy life :)
The more hues there are ...
the more life there is :)

I have been
dancing to the tune of colors :)

This is a simple kettle which is used in India
in every small dhaba or a roadside tea shop...
I have painted them earlier also
but since I began blogging ...this is the second one
and I promise, you will have many more coming
in the near future...

I also painted this small bucket
and love the way even a simple looking object can surprise you
when you give it your love...
and my love being my colors...I gave it some !
and here it is bright and happy :)

no longer to carry rain or usher storm,
but to add color to my sunset sky.”

Wall of Fame !

It has been quite a creative week .
Actually I had been preparing for something exciting !

Yes here we had an art fair
called "Wall of fame " supporting local artists .

and I exhibited all my colorful stuff there :)

Are you wondering about that yellow kettle ?
Well I painted it some time back
and did not get a chance to blog about it
and show you all!

Actually there are quite a few things here
which I need to share with you...

Well in my next post I will be doing that !

I am so happy to be a part of this fair ...
It has helped to meet new artists ,
learn and appreciate their art and ...
most important of all spread love and cheer around !!

I recently read...

"Reach as high as you can...
and then reach a little higher...
There you will find magic and possibility...
and may be even cookies !!"

YES I tried and 'Reached'
and found myself in the world of
'Magical 'colorful art
and could see so many new ' Possibilities'...
and now if you are wondering ...
YES my husband got me some delicious oats and nuts cookies while I was still in the fair :)

Wrapped up in prayer

Soundtrack of my life…wrapped up in prayer

Help me to stretch my wings
To soar high and kiss the sky
Help me to paint my own rainbows
To fill my pockets with some clouds
Help me to walk stormy seas
To climb the stony mountains with ease
Help me to hear the music of my heart
To find a song and sing along
Help me to love…selflessly
To give…and serve tirelessly
Help me to make each day my favorite
To be just …’me’
Help me to live while I am alive
To put my heart in my life
Let my eyes always reflect
…my heart’s gratitude
Let my lips sing the song
…of my life’s plentitude !

Hulum !

Diwali is over.
Christmas is on its way!
I love the power these festivals hold to bring joy to each heart
make each eye shine
...love and hugs
...they do spread cheer everywhere.
teaching us to give...to share....

I have been too busy
making sweets
and painting diyas
and cleaning the house
for diwali :)

...and now is the time to spread love around

So here I am with my art work :)

Baskets have always fascinated me
 and when
it is a bright and happy one
I have all the reasons
to drool :)

Are you wondering what is written there in black??

Well it reads HULUM in Arabic and means DREAM in English :)

My basket finally hangs on my kitchen wall
inspiring me to 'dream'
for that which can be dreamed can be achieved :)

I swallow sunset :)

I know ,I know you must have got it by now that the inspiration this week ,at APR is "sunset".
We,the family, had gone to the beach last week and  clicked these awesome pictures of the sun going down.
Love them totally :)

Now all inspired I came up with this

and this...

and this...

and then this...

and finally this...

Each day
I take a bite of 'sunrise'
to make me go
with the flow...
of life...
to charge me
for the new...
to keep me smiling
all day through...
count my blessings
and appreciate His ways...

...and then I swallow
each 'sunset'
with gratitude
and with hope for another
sunrise in store :)
